The Perfect Plan and Why I Want It To Go Wrong, Week 8
During a recent conversation with Sifu Brinker we talked about how other people notice the change Kung fu makes for you, how going to class can sometimes make a noticeable difference in your attitude to others. The person who noticed this in me is my dad. Now for a little back story, my dad works away from home and is gone for 3-4 weeks at a time, so sometimes I won’t see him in person for a month. This is where my story begins, about 3 years ago before he left I had gone to almost every class and every Saturday class. Then during the 4 weeks he was gone I ended up skipping a few classes because my priorities where not Kung fu. So the 4 weeks go by and I didn’t notice any change in myself personally, I thought I was still the same. Until family dinner the night my dad got back, me and my sister got into an argument over something most likely ridiculous and proceeded to not talk for the rest of dinner. After dinner when I was sitting in my room my dad comes in. At first I thought I was gonna get it. Instead my dad just looks at me and says “ you haven’t been to Kung fu have you?” To which I said no and started to give him reasons as to why I missed this class and that class. When I was done he said “ I know you haven’t been cause your acting like an a**” and left. that’s when I really started to realize That Kung fu really changes you, and although you may not notice others will, especially if that person has not seen you for a while. My dad said he noticed it straight away, he still does notice when I miss class.
You may not notice the difference in your self after one class and the people who see you everyday might not either, but it will have an affect on you and someone will notice. Hope this story of my life helps motivate the rest of you guys to always come to class because Kung fu can truly change you for the better.
That’s all from me.
