COVID Endemic Plan
Now that the Provincial Government has eliminated most of the mandated COVID restrictions, it is time for us to implement Silent River Kung Fu’s endemic strategy.
Our strategy moving forward will be based upon two important facts:
COVID will always present a significant threat for our immune-compromised and non-vaccinated community members.
Alberta’s healthcare system and frontline workers are being pushed beyond their limits.
With these facts in mind, we are going to proceed cautiously as we move forward with this approach:
We ask all students to continue to wear masks to and from the Kwoon to ensure that all our students are safe as possible. Remember, your mask protects me and my mask protects you.
Masks are optional for students while on the mats.
When not actively participating in class, everyone in the kwoon will do their best to maintain a 2m distance from others.
Temporal temperatures will continue to be used to screen everyone entering the kwoon. This is still our best indication of infection and illness. Anyone running hot will be sent home to train via Zoom until they become asymptomatic.
All disinfecting measures implemented during the pandemic will continue until the pandemic is completely behind us. This includes hand sanitization and mat disinfection.
The City of Edmonton has a logical, progressive approach to controlling the pandemic and we are going to follow their lead. This means we will keep our mask guidelines in place until the provincial COVID infection intensity drops below 100 infections per 100,000 people as reported by Alberta Health and maintained for 28 days. We are currently at around 12000 as of February 25th.
I want to remind everyone that we are two years into this process and there are still an awful lot of people at risk. It is also important to note:
