Enhanced COVID Protocols - September 5, 2021
Alberta has averaged 1147 new COVID cases per day over this past week. September 3rd alone we added another 1401 new cases to the provincial total. As of September 2nd, we have 431 of our fellow Albertans being treated in Intensive Care. Clearly the pandemic’s 4th wave is a major concern.
We take the safety of our students seriously and strongly support the government mandated mask guidelines announced this past week. Effective immediately Silent River Kung Fu is enhancing its pandemic protocols to not only help keep our students training safely, but to also provide an example for our community.
Everyone entering the Kwoon must be masked and be screened for temporal temperature. Everyone in the building will remain masked at all times unless they are a student or instructor actively participating in class.
Students will wear a mask unless they are on the mats. Masks must be worn in all other areas of the Kwoon including the change rooms.
Students are encouraged to wear a carabiner or other device that can safely secure their mask to their belts so that it is always accessible but safe from falling to the floor.
Only two students at a time will be permitted in the change rooms.
All students should arrive for class already dressed in their training attire to limit their need to access the change rooms.
Students and spectators will line up outside the Kwoon and only enter the Kwoon when invited to do so by an instructor.
Students will enter via the far west door, spectators will enter from the central and east doors only.
The Kwoon’s lobby must remain clear of all spectators to give our students safe access to and from the training hall.
If there is not enough space for all spectators to attend safely, excess spectators can view the class via Zoom.
All instructors will be masked unless they are actively leading the class. Note that there are times during any class when multiple instructors may be actively leading.
Students training with partners or groups will remain with the same partner or group for the entire training session. No switching partners or groups will be permitted.
Effective immediately, Saturday Open Training is suspended. We will revisit this after the fourth wave reaches its apex.
As the pandemic evolves, so will our protocols. These steps are what we feel are the minimum necessary to help keep our students safe while they are training.
We will be hosting a Zoom meeting this Monday (Labour Day) at 6:30 pm for the entire school to go over our enhanced protocols and to answer any and all questions. Please RSVP to the meeting event so that we can track and ensure all pertinent information is getting to you all.
