SRKF Blood Donation Event - 2023

As part of the Kwan Yin Healing Project for Sihing Jackie Kohut last year, Silent River Kung Fu became a Partner For Life with the Canadian Blood Services and participated in a blood donation drive. As the need for blood donations is always present, we intend to make this an annual event. Because an initiative such as this directly aligns with our Wude Curriculum, this is also an opportunity to earn your Green Stripe.

This year, Sihing Simon Kohut has taken the lead and has reserved several appointment bookings for July 28th at the Heritage Pavilion, ranging between 5-6pm. For those who joined the SRKF Partner for Life team last year, you will be able to see and access these team appointments from your CBS account. Simply book one of the reserved spots and you are good to go. If the date and times do not work for you, not to worry. Simply find a location, date and time that does work and it will still count toward our team donations.

For those who did not partake last year, or if you have never donated and/or do not have a CBS account, please follow the steps below (links provided to get you where you need to go).

  1. Determine your eligibility with the CBS Eligibility Quiz using the following link. https://myaccount.blood.ca/en/eligibility-quiz

  2. Create a CBS account. https://myaccount.blood.ca/en/user/login

  3. Join the SRKF Team. https://myaccount.blood.ca/en/join-team/SILE0103425

  4. Book one of the reserved team appointments that you will now be able to access through your account.

If you are not eligible to make a blood donation, but would still like to be involved, there are several other ways to participate that you can see here. https://www.blood.ca/en/ways-donate

“This holds dear to my heart. Over my lifetime I have had a minimum of 6 units of blood, 5 units of platelets (3 donors per unit) and 1 unit of stem cells in the last year. THANK YOU to everyone who participates in any fashion. You do save lives!”

If you have any questions at all, or if you really want to donate, but are feeling hesitant, please reach out to Sihing Simon Kohut, Todai Malinda Ferris or any of your instructors. This is such an incredibly important initiative and we are happy to support you in any way we can.

We hope to see you at the event!
