For the first time in almost twenty years, Silent River Kung Fu will not be hosting a Chinese New Year banquet to celebrate the black belt achievement of its students. Last year’s banquet took place before COVID-19 became a full-blown pandemic but only a few weeks before the first lockdown. A lot has happened since then.
Achieving black belt is an extraordinary accomplishment. I am not aware of anyone who has earned that rank that does not have it listed as the greatest of their life’s accomplishments. Despite all the obstacles the pandemic has put in front of us, four Silent River Kung Fu students were able to not only endure but excel and successfully complete their year-long black belt grading.
Please mark February 20th @ 7pm on your calendar and virtually join us as these four candidates are promoted to black belt. You will also get to witness five other black belts get promoted to higher degrees. It is on this night that we will recognize all the Lil Leopard, Tiny Tiger, and Black Dragon award recipients along with Silent River’s Student of the Year and Black Belt of the Year.
The pandemic may prevent us from getting together for our banquet but it cannot stop us from celebrating our accomplishments. Let’s ring in the Year of the Ox by getting together for a night of recognition and gratitude.
