Inspired Action
Is foundational to success, for goals, dreams and general well being.
What do these words actually mean?
Inspire: the urge or will to do something
Action: the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim
When I don't feel inspired, I ask myself this key question:
Is my life full of chores or full of gifts? Instantly I am jolted into a realization that there is opportunity, and I am inspired to find out what the opportunity is. I then ask myself these secondary questions:
What is the spark that combusts into action? What is the spark of enthusiasm that ignites power and will? The root of my active behaviour? What propels my movements? For me, the answer is often the fire in my belly. I feel the spark of life, and this spark is the root that ignites my actions. Struggle finds its way in, for sure. I see struggle as a gift also. An opportunity to learn and grow.
Once in a struggle free zone, I feel powerful and unstoppable. Period. And I listen. To my instructor and to myself, because power speaks. Power can be heard from others, from outside sources, and can be heard on the inside. For everyone. The process of becoming struggle free propels me to track the initiation of movement or thought. How do I do it? What is the root? Can I track it? In my body? I exercise these question ALL the time. I find this to be a super effective practice in developing inspired action, which includes me being responsible for my own improvement.
Which brings me to a word we hear in Kung Fu all the time. Discipline. Discipline comes from disciple, which means "the willingness to be the student". Here is where I observe which desires are important and which are not. I observe when I don't feel like doing something that serves my larger purpose, (like self mastery). The will tumbles lower desires. The recipe of will requires ingredients. One of them is focus. As Master Brinker says, "Where am I and what am I doing?". Back to Inspired Action.
We all have sat around a campfire and we can all agree fire needs fuel. I fuel my fire with healthy and ethical food choices, a positive mindset with a healthy discernment and mindfully do things that bring me to my center, which gives me the feeling of the power inside. And guess what? There are bonus benefits to inspired action. Like, self-esteem is enhanced! When my power is operating effectively, I am ignited to do what I love because I am clear that the power has a direction. This is beyond a concept, it is a feeling. No one gave me this feeling. I had to develop the connection by focusing on combining and orchestrating the inner forces, which is true strength.
Goals can be accomplished with inspired action, it does not have to be forced action. Forced action can feel like one step forward and 2 steps back. Inspired action feels like an exciting rush!. Inspired action gets me in the zone and I flow like a river.
To finish this blog post, I invite you to read what my good friend Jillian Rutledge has to say about Inspired Action. Now....this woman can safely and effectively hold her breath for 5 minutes, so I believe she knows a thing or two about inspired action. She is part of a goal I have created for the I Ho Chuan, which is to learn to freedive. Why? To continue navigating and understanding this physical body.
In the element of water, which is a different navigation than land.

Inspired action is not something that comes from you, rather it comes through you. It is the doing that comes from being that often leaves us in awe. The method is an interaction between our breathing, our intention and our attention with the unseen, Divine and universal life force energy. This collaborative energy propels us to think, to speak and to act in ways that are creative, moving, influential and expanding. We call this INSPIRATION. And so when we expand our capacity to breathe, we expand our capacity to live an inspired life, where our dreams actually transform into reality. The irony is, this way of living is filled with moments that take our breath away.
Finding the spark, and committing to the action is Inspiring!
