Consistency and Engagement = Confidence

As instructors, we know that by practicing Kung Fu, our students will build confidence as they see that they are improving.  And as instructors, we have a front row seat to these results.  It’s inspiring to watch our students grow and become more confident in themselves, as they develop that “can do” attitude.

I have been having one on ones with both a student and their parent weekly for the past several months and the feedback I am getting is invaluable. I have watched this student in class become more confident in their abilities.  They have gone from being quiet, shy and reserved and not really talking to me, to a student who went up in front of a crowd of parents and peers at our banquet to perform and accept an award with confidence.

This student, in the past 6 months, has grown exponentially. Their parents have seen this improvement and comment about it all of the time.

However, a big part of this equation is the fact that this student attends every class.  Their parents see the benefits, and it’s only through their consistency in bringing their child to class and their engagement in their child’s training, that this confidence has been growing.  And as long as they continue to stay consistent with bringing their child to every class, this student will see improvement in every aspect of their life.

Year Round Opportunities

We strive to ensure our students always excel and enjoy well earned success in all aspects of their lives. When it comes to our youngest students, a very large factor in their success in Kung Fu will be the perspective of you, their parents and guardians. If you do not see the value that we provide your child, you will not be inclined to continue to bring them to classes.

Because we recognize this, we have many opportunities for the parents to get to know us as instructors, and to see first hand what we are providing your children. You always have access to us, either in person when you drop off/pick up your kids, but also through WhatsApp, email, text, phone call. We are available to you.

In addition, we have several yearly events open to you, and specific days set throughout the year for you to connect with us. Every event listed here, plus every other event at our school, can be found on the Our Events page on the website.

January/February- Annual Chinese New Year Banquet and Black Promotion Ceremony; student demonstrations (including your kids!), lion and dragon dances, Benevolent Foundation presentations and much more.

March- Biannual Children’s Class Recitals AND Parent/Instructor Interviews (during spring break)

May- Annual Tiger Challenge; our intraschool tournament

August- Biannial Children’s Class Recitals

October- Annual Break-a-thon

November- Parent/Instructor Interviews (during fall break)

Again, the specific dates for each of the above opportunities can be found on the Our Events page on our website.

Lastly, the most powerful tool that we have for you and your kids would be the One-on-One’s. These can be booked anytime with any instructor through the website. If your child has their heart set on a specific instructor but their schedule does not work with yours, you can reach out and we will do everything in our power to be available when you are.

And parents, the One-on-One’s are for you too. If you ever need to connect with your child’s instructor, you can book for yourself.

Children's Class Turnover Procedure

To further address the safety issue being generated when people improperly park their vehicles in our parking lot, we are going to implement a new method for releasing our younger students from their kung fu class.

Effective immediately we are going to hold the children in the Kwoon until their parent, or designated driver, arrives to escort them safely through the parking lot to their properly parked vehicle. The specifics of this procedure is as follows:

• When our Lil Leopards, Tiny Tigers, or Young Dragons finish their class, they will put on their jackets and footwear and then have a seat on the bench inside.

• As students are arriving for the next class they will enter the Kwoon through the main west door on the north side.

• Students leaving the Kwoon will leave through the door directly adjacent to the main west entrance  only when their parent/driver is present and able to escort them safely to their vehicle.

To ensure maximum visibility and safety, no child will be leaving the Kwoon if there is anyone improperly parked in the parking lot. We will do our best to monitor that situation but we would also appreciate if everyone can contribute to the policing of the parking lot by politely and respectfully reminding each other where the designated parking areas are located.

This new procedure should improve the safety and efficiency of navigating the parking lot. We appreciate everyone’s support with this new approach.
