Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we practiced our relays and our pool noodle sword fighting in preparation for the Tiger Challenge.

Tiny Tigers
In Tiny Tigers this week we got to do two of our most favourite things, pool noodle fighting AND an obstacle course! I think we are well prepared for the Tiger Challenge tomorrow!

Young Dragons Level 1&2
For our Young Dragons classes we did a lot of preparation for the Tiger Challenge with hand forms practice, weapon form practice, board breaking and even practiced tournament protocol and etiquette.

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we practiced our hand-eye coordination with our ball circle game. We also developed our team work with a ball relay!
Kung Fu At Home: Ask your child to show you a crane stance and see if they can hold it for 10 seconds.
Tiny Tigers
In Tiny Tigers this week we worked on our stamina and agility with relay races to the heavy bags. We also used our ball circle game to practice our patience, listening and hand-eye coordination.
Kung Fu At Home: Ask your child to do 3 front thrust kicks on each leg.
Young Dragons Level 1&2
For our Young Dragons classes we focussed on our Vocabulary of Motion curriculum with various sparring drills. We also worked on our Hsieh Chien and Lao Gar forms.
In preparation for the Tiger Challenge we talked about board breaking and practiced some of our techniques that we can use for that event.

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we practiced our shuttle runs in preparation for the Tiger Challenge. We also mixed in some animal running and animal postures.

Tiny Tigers
In Tiny Tigers this week we practiced teamwork and Dynamic Control by trying to walk with a partner while holding a ball between our backs, arms and hips! We also worked on some of the Tiger Challenge events with a contest to see what team was able to do the best animal postures and who was able to hold the crane stance the longest.

Young Dragons Level 1&2
For our Young Dragons classes we continued to work on our “takedown situation” and also spent time on our Lion Dancing. We focused on The 3 Bows, Unicorn Stepping and The Wave and even added the drumming patterns to our dance.

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we used stations to work on our ninja kicks, breakfalls balancing and animal postures.

Tiny Tigers
In our Tiny Tigers class we got to practice our pool noodle fighting and our bean bag relays. Both of which are events in the upcoming Tiger Challenge Tournament!

Young Dragons Level 1&2
For our Young Dragons classes we had some fun making up our own class form as a group. If we chose to, we also got to perform our form in order to practice being in front of an audience. We then continued with our “Vocabulary of Motion” curriculum and progressed to a “jab-reverse-wing block-downward foot block-reverse” sparring sequence, while also travelling!

This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we worked on our hand-eye coordination and accuracy by throwing a ball through a hoop.

In our Tiny Tigers class we rotated through various stations while working on all kinds of skills like kicks, hand-eye coordination and animal postures.

For our Young Dragons classes we got creative with scarves while learning all kinds of things about our Opening Bow and our “jab-jab-reverse” sparring sequence. We also worked with partners and expanded our skill with sparring by learning how to travel back and forth and in circles.

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we did a station drill where we worked on a variety of things including animal postures, kicks on the heavy bags, block defense and jab jab reverse.

Tiny Tigers
In our Tiny Tigers class we worked with partners using bean bags to develop our hand/eye coordination. We also went face to face against our classmates in a Kick-off race!

Young Dragons Level 1
For our Young Dragons Level 1 class we focused on our Traditional Tenets curriculum by working on both our dragon dancing and lion dancing.

This week in Young Dragons Level 2 we split our focus between our Traditional Tenets and Wuxin curriculums. We worked on both our dragon and lion dancing and also worked with partners on wrist escapes.

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we worked on our listening skills and our ability to follow direction while having all kinds of fund in an obstacle course!

Tiny Tigers
In our Tiny Tigers class we worked on our speed, agility and balance, as well as specific techniques like kicks, punches and rolls using both an obstacle course and our loopty-loop bag drill.

Young Dragons Level 1 & 2
For both Young Dragons Level 1 & 2, we focused on our Wuxin and Dynamic Control curriculum. We began with developing our Stick techniques and eventually progressed to some “real-life” applications while working with a partner. We also worked on our wrist escapes by simulating a “grab” scenario.

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class, we wanted to show our parents our ninja skills by doing a Ninja Obstacle course. We always have so much fun with this!

In Tiny Tigers this week we practiced our hand-eye coordination with bean bag tossing. On Thursday we used various stations to show our parents our kicks, punches, break-falls and agility. We all did amazing!

Young Dragons Level 1 & 2
For our Young Dragons classes we continued to work on our grappling curriculum with things like break falls, scoot position, safety stand-ups and shrimping. For our parents, we used a large bag drill to show off all kinds of our different skills like kicks, punches, slide stepping and even things like duck and crab walking and a military crawl! We finished the class with an action packed game of Bean Bag Dodgeball that the parents got to participate in. We all had alot of fun!

Don’t forget the Mad Minute Challenge happening during spring break! This is an easy way for your children to stay engaged with their Kung Fu with only 1 minute a day. They should have brought home a tracking sheet, but if not, all of the info is available in postings on WhatsApp as well as the website.

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we got to do one of our favourite things and used our parachute! We made popcorn with balls, worked on breakfalls and even got to hide underneath!
Kung Fu At Home: Ask your child to show you a breakfall (aka. “splat”). Make sure they are on a softer surface such as carpet or a bed.
Tiny Tigers
In our Tiny Tigers class we practiced various Kung Fu techniques such as kicks, punches and break falls with relays to the heavy bags. We also worked on our speed, agility and endurance with our “Circle of Dots” drill.

For our Young Dragons classes we spent much of our time this week focused on our grappling curriculum. This included things like break falls, scoot position, safety stand-ups and a NEW technique for most of us called “shrimping”!

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we balanced with bean bags and practiced our aim and listening by tossing bean bags into a hoop.
Kung Fu At Home: Ask your child if they can pick up a bean bag (or a pair of socks (rolled), small stuffy, or other small soft item) using just their elbows.
Tiny Tigers
In our Tiny Tigers classes this week we worked on our punches and learned how to do a backfist. We also worked on our teamwork, hand-eye coordination, foot-eye coordination (lol) and our patience with our ball passing drill.
Kung Fu At Home: Ask your child to show you a proper fist (hint: make sure they aren’t tucking their thumbs in!).
Young Dragons Level 1&2
For both Young Dragons classes we continued working on our Lion Dancing and practiced being both a head and a tail. We also did a “Sifu Swap” drill where we covered all kinds of things like kicks, punches and sparring. Alot of effort was put into specific techniques from our Lao Gar form (Level 1) and our Da Mu Hsing form (Level 2) and we also started to work on both Buddha Dancing and Dragon Dancing.
Kung Fu At Home: Ask your child what their favourite traditional dance is…Lion, Dragon or Buddha dancing. Post to WhatsApp so we know!

Young Dragons Level 1
For our Young Dragons Level 1 class we worked on our Stick form and Lao Gar. We also started working again on our Lion Dancing, for which we practiced both Unicorn Stepping and drumming.

This week in Young Dragons Level 2 we spent our time developing both our Stick and Da Mu Hsing forms. Like the Level 1s, we then moved on to Lion Dancing with Unicorn Stepping and Drumming.

This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we worked on our breakfalls while playing Musical Sheilds.

In our Tiny Tigers class we worked on things like splats (aka. break-falls), kicks and rolls at different circuit stations.

Young Dragons Level 1
For our Young Dragons Level 1 class, our main focus this week was on our kicks. We specifically worked on things like our stances and foot position, while also developing precision. We also worked on our horse stance by incrementally increasing the amount of time we held it for. We eventually made it to 35 seconds!

Young Dragons Level 2
This week in Young Dragons Level 2 we continued working on our Inside Flying Spinning Outside Inside Cylone kick and also learned the Stiff Swinging Kick to Spine. Some dedicated focus was spent on specific aspects of our Front Thrust and Side Heel kicks, like stances and foot position. And just like the Level 1 class, we also worked on our horse stance and eventually made it to 45 seconds!

Lil’ Leopards
This week in the Lil’ Leopards class we worked on our speed, agility and strength with our animal races. We also used our animal sounds to help us practice our kicks and punches.

In our Tiny Tigers class we practiced our kicks and punches with our circle of dots game and with relays on the heavy bags. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, we also got to talk about the different things we love. Pizza was a popular one!

Young Dragons Level 1
For our Young Dragons Level 1 class we worked on strengthening our legs with our horse stance while also developing our punches, front thrust kicks and drop kicks. We talked about proper rotation to maximize our punches and what makes a kick strong. Because of Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, we shared some of the different things that we love and also made an effort to compliment and share kind things about each other.

Young Dragons Level 2
This week in Young Dragons Level 2 we worked on our hand-eye coordination with a partner bean bag toss. We also worked on a few of our more advanced kicks like the Inside and Outside Cyclone Kicks and the Inside Flying Spinning Outside Inside Cyclone Kick. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we also shared kind compliments with our classmates about what makes them special.
